Corporate work – but perhaps not as you know it
We’re working with a leading national law firm on a slightly different opportunity for a corporate or corporate/commercial lawyer to join its specialist Primary Care team.
The team advises GP practices and other primary care organisations across the country, alongside clients in areas including dental and pharmacy.
It’s a particularly interesting time in the sector. GP practices are increasingly coming together and moving from smaller independent models towards larger regional organisations, creating a growing amount of restructuring, consolidation and M&A-type work, alongside the broader commercial advice these businesses need.
What does the role involve?
You’ll advise primary care clients on a broad range of corporate and commercial matters, including restructuring and transactional work, and will have plenty of direct client contact.
You don’t necessarily need previous healthcare experience.
They would be very interested in speaking to a corporate lawyer looking for something a little different, or somebody from a smaller or regional firm who has developed a broader corporate/commercial practice and is used to running their own caseload.
A different kind of corporate role
One of the real attractions of this opportunity is that you can continue doing interesting corporate work without necessarily having the lifestyle that traditionally comes with it.
The transactions are important to the clients involved, but they generally don’t have the same highly pressurised timetables as traditional corporate M&A.
There can occasionally be early evening meetings because GPs understandably need to fit these around their practice hours, but you’re unlikely to find yourself trying to complete a deal at 12.30am.
For someone who enjoys corporate work but would like a little more balance, it could be a really interesting alternative.
Location
The team operates nationally, so there will be some travel from time to time.
Leeds is the preferred location, although other office locations could be considered for the right person.
