The Opportunity

This is a brilliant opportunity to join a fantastic firm and a growing team, with lots going on currently and plenty more in the pipeline.

The firm has a really strong reputation, not only for the quality of its work but as a place to build a career. It has managed to combine high-quality, interesting work with a friendly, down-to-earth and supportive culture, and there is a real emphasis on developing people and giving them the opportunity to grow.

We’re looking for a Procurement Lawyer, but previous procurement experience isn’t essential. The team would be very happy to consider an application from a candidate who is interested in developing their career in this area and has the right attitude and approach.

Equally, we’d love to hear from lawyers who already have procurement experience, including those with a procurement litigation background who may be interested in broadening their expertise and moving into a wider advisory role.

The Work

The work is strategic, interesting and varied, covering both public and private sector procurement, with matters spanning the health sector as well as acting for a broad range of non-health clients.

Depending on your level and experience, you can expect to be involved in:

  • Advising clients on a broad range of procurement matters, across both the public and private sectors.
  • Working on complex and strategic projects for clients within health and other sectors.
  • Supporting clients through a changing procurement landscape and helping them navigate new developments.
  • Working alongside experienced procurement specialists on high-quality advisory work.
  • For those coming from a procurement disputes background, developing your experience across the wider advisory side of procurement.
  • Building relationships with clients and becoming increasingly involved in matters as your experience develops.
  • Getting involved in business development, including seminars, client training sessions and other opportunities to build your profile.

There is plenty of variety, so this isn’t a role where you’ll find yourself pigeonholed into one particular type of work or client.

A Team That’s Growing

The team is growing significantly, with lots of work coming in and ambitious plans for the future. That creates a really good opportunity for somebody joining now to become part of the team as it develops and to build their own profile and career alongside it.

Procurement is also an incredibly interesting area to be working in at the moment. With so much change in the procurement landscape, everyone is learning and adapting, which makes this a particularly good time to develop a specialism in this area and to learn your craft.

Who Are We Looking For?

What we particularly like about this opportunity is how open-minded the team is about the person they recruit.

Technical experience is only part of the picture. Attitude, enthusiasm and cultural fit really matter, and they are genuinely happy to invest in and train somebody who may not already have a procurement background but has the potential and appetite to learn.

You could therefore be:

  • An NQ or junior lawyer interested in developing a career in procurement, even if you haven’t specialised in it previously.
  • A lawyer with existing procurement experience looking for your next move.
  • A procurement litigator interested in broadening your experience into advisory work.
  • Someone looking to retrain or develop a new specialism within a supportive and experienced team.

For somebody at the earlier stages of their career, or perhaps considering a change of direction, it offers the chance to develop a valuable specialism within an excellent firm, surrounded by people who will support that development.

Equally, for an experienced procurement lawyer, it’s an opportunity to join a busy and expanding practice with excellent work and plenty of scope to make your mark.
