Senior Legal Counsel | Hybrid | Leeds | Healthcare

In-House Lawyer | Senior Legal Counsel
Hybrid | Leeds

Competitive Salary + Bonus + Excellent Benefits

Haggerty Jaques has been instructed, as an appointed PSL agency, to recruit a Senior Legal Counsel into the legal team of a large healthcare organisation.

This is a rare broad and varied in-house lawyer role, offering exposure to commercial agreements, regulatory matters and strategic operational projects within a complex and regulated environment.

The role provides the opportunity to work closely with stakeholders across the business while supporting a wide range of legal matters as the organisation continues to grow and evolve.

The Role

This is a highly visible position within the legal team, working closely with stakeholders across the organisation.

The role is intentionally broad and generalist in nature, supporting the business across a wide range of legal matters.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Advising on commercial arrangements, including consultant and service agreements
  • Supporting the business on regulatory and compliance matters
  • Advising on operational and strategic projects across the organisation
  • Providing day-to-day legal advice across a wide range of commercial and regulatory issues
  • Supporting the business through corporate activity and strategic transactions where required
  • Managing relationships with external law firms where specialist advice is needed
  • Identifying and managing legal and regulatory risk across the organisation

What the Organisation Is Looking For

The organisation is seeking an experienced lawyer who enjoys operating in a broad, commercially focused in-house role. The position would suit someone with healthcare sector experience who is happy to roll their sleeves up and get involved in a wide range of legal matters, or alternatively a commercially minded generalist lawyer who is keen to develop their expertise within the healthcare sector.

Candidates may already be working in-house in a generalist position or could currently be in private practice advising organisations operating in regulated sectors.

Why Move In-House?

For many lawyers, moving into an in-house legal role provides the opportunity to work much closer to the business. Rather than advising from the outside, you become embedded within the organisation, influencing decisions at an early stage and seeing the direct impact of your advice on strategy, growth and operational delivery.

Benefits

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package designed to support both professional and personal wellbeing. This includes an annual performance bonus, private healthcare, generous holiday entitlement with flexibility options, pension and life assurance, wellbeing initiatives and hybrid working.

The role is based in Leeds, with flexible hybrid working and an expectation of approximately two days in the office per week. While the position is ideally full-time, the organisation may consider four days per week for an exceptional candidate.
